Making the Most of your time
Productivity is one of the most important key to success. By boosting your productivity, you will be able to do things with less effort. Boosting productivity can be done in many ways.
Productivity can be hard to come by in our society. Print and online advertisements, media, schools, and our family members are constantly trying to get us to buy into something that is going to increase our productivity. However, the solution may be as simple as re-evaluating your current schedule, or re-prioritizing your current activities. You may even be surprised at how much you can do in one day!
Improve your output with these 7 Strategies
Keep a To-Do List for All Tasks
Tasks can be difficult to remember. But a to-do list makes it much easier to stick to them. This is one of the main reasons that I am a huge fan of creating lists. Some people think it’s easy to follow a project or follow a To-Do list, but it’s not. It takes a lot of practice and sometimes even trial and error to figure out what needs to be done next. The more you recognize tasks as being unaddressed until later in the day or week, the more motivated you’ll be to tackle those projects when they pop up.
Work your List
Allow yourself time to accomplish activities on your list each day. Set aside extra time for communicating with clients or coworkers if you need to. Be thorough when completing tasks. Don’t accept shifts or extensions on tasks until they’re completed. Don’t take on extra work if it’s not particularly urgent. When you focus and set goals for yourself, it becomes much easier to accomplish them. Try these techniques within your working day to get more done:Set aside five to ten productive minutes between each piece of email. Complete tasks on each piece of email that aren’t prioritized. During these minuscule breaks, reflect on what’s important and useful information you’d like to pass along. Then, proceed to the next topic without further delay.
Schedule three “Thinking” hours a day
Most people think that their work-life balance consists of turning off email and working during the place that’s open. But this is rarely the right approach. There’s a lot to be said for reaching peak productivity while staying relaxed and centered at home. Schedule three hours a day to think about what you want to achieve in your work, and then stick to it. It may seem counter-intuitive, but being productive with a clear mind will help you be a better person in the long run.
Be positive and enthusiastic about your tasks
Negative thoughts can paralyze and distract us from our goals. Positive ones can help us get up and go do a task. In today’s business environment, we often need to be both. It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking only about how to achieve our goals, ignoring obstacles along the way. Being productive requires thinking positively as well as being energetic. Be consistent in your efforts, step outside your comfort zone and truly engage in the things that matter most.
Decrease interruptions by using social media tools
Distraction is the enemy of productivity. And the easier it is to avoid, the more productive you’ll be. If you find yourself perpetually on the phone or in another room working on something other than what you’re truly interested in, it’s time to slow down and focus. Turn off your computer, set some boundaries for how long you can stay on Facebook or Twitter, and pick one post type to tackle each day.
Read content by bloggers and industry experts
Doing your own research can be the difference between enjoying a productive day and despondent at the end of it. Reading blogs from experts in your field can help you discover new trends that alter the way you work. Researching new products and services can also lead you to finding more product-related information on other sites. Later on, compare the two sources to ensure they have more in common than you first realize.
Relax more so that you can work better
There are many ways to increase productivity. That doesn’t mean working less. In fact, many of the best habits and tools are specifically designed to help you work more efficiently. You can miss out on important tasks if you aren’t careful. Every so often it is right to take a break from your day job to sit down and relax. Take time out for friends, family, or yourself. Even a walk or a nap can help you unwind and reset your brain for a more productive day ahead.
Now do it!
It takes a certain mindset to be productive. To stay focused and motivated you need to identify the things that are most important to you in life. From that core source of energy you can generate a positive sense of energy. It’s called the power of connection. As we’re connected to others and to our environment in many different ways, it can be difficult to get focused. But when we focus for long periods of time on a particular project or activity, it sparks an increase in productivity and happiness throughout the day, week, and year.
